PhD scholarships – Fordham University – USA
Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business
PhD Program
The Gabelli School of Business PhD program offers a unique opportunity to study alongside leading scholars in the heart of Manhattan.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The program utilizes a specialized approach to doctoral education to produce graduates with expert knowledge in a variety of fields. On their way toward earning a PhD in Business, students will specialize in a traditional discipline, for example, finance, management, marketing, etc. In order to achieve this goal, students will undergo one of two interdisciplinary curriculum tracks designed to broaden their field of expertise: (1) Capital Markets or (2) Strategy and Decision-Making. The Capital Markets focus combines the traditional aspects of economic theory with the quantitative rigor of finance and accounting. The Strategy and Decision-Making focus encompasses all aspects of the contemporary study of decision-making with theories of management, marketing, information systems, business ethics, business media, and operations.
Combined with hands-on mentoring from faculty, a focus on placement, and the New York advantage, this research-intensive program provides graduates with the requisite empirical and theoretical skills to enter academia as professors and researchers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should preferably have already earned a graduate degree in business or a related field, such as an MS in economics, finance, mathematics, operations research, psychology, or statistics. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated past success in university programs, as well as to exhibit significant potential as an academic scholar.
Transfer students from other PhD programs, particularly in economics, are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants may receive consideration for transferred credits based on previous coursework and degrees.
FUNDING:
Complete and partial funding is available to qualified candidates. A typical complete funding package includes tuition remission, a stipend, and healthcare. Funding decisions are competitive and are made as part of the admissions process.
APPLICATIONS/FURTHER INFORMATION:
The application period will close on March 1. The program will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis thereafter until all places have been awarded to qualified candidates.
