Abstract:
This research aims to discover the impact of internal migration on economic growth in 63 provinces in Vietnam during the period 2010-2018. To achieve the objective of this study, Fixed Effect (FE) is employed to investigate the overall impact of immigration and
emigration on growth rate. The descriptive statistic gives some information that for each cluster of provinces, migration, and economic growth share different patterns. Agricultural areas observed the same direction of those factors, while manufacture and services regions,
growth rate, and migration had opposite trends. Although many previous papers agree with the positive effect of population movement on the growth rate, it was found from this research that a negative relationship occurs between two factors. The policy implications of this result are providing job opportunities, investing in all economic sectors, and promoting satellite city construction projects.
