2 PhD Positions in Economics (Fully Funded) – Jönköping University, Sweden

Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), one of four schools within Jönköping University, invites applications for two fully funded, full-time PhD positions in Economics, starting 1 September 2026.

JIBS is triple crown accredited (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) and consistently ranked among the top institutions in business and economics. Recent assessments rank JIBS first in Sweden in business administration and economics, and among the top institutions in Europe and worldwide in entrepreneurship. Position details

  • Full-time PhD positions (100%), fully funded (salary included)

  • Duration: up to 5 years, subject to satisfactory annual progress

  • 80% doctoral studies (coursework and independent research)

  • 20% teaching and administrative duties

  • Department of Economics, Finance, and Statistics

Research environment

PhD candidates may be affiliated with JIBS research centres, including:

  • Centre for Entrepreneurship and Spatial Economics (CEnSE)

  • Centre for Family Enterprise and Ownership (CeFEO)

  • Media, Management and Transformation Centre (MMTC)

Research areas include urban and regional economics, applied microeconomics, macroeconomics, public policy, and finance.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent)

  • At least 240 ECTS credits, including 60 ECTS at the Master’s level

  • At least 90 ECTS in Economics

  • At least 15 ECTS in Statistics

  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English
