Description of PhD research project
My PhD project investigates the relationship between technology adoption and energy consumption, a topic that has generated mixed empirical findings in the literature. Focusing on Vietnam—a rapidly growing and energy-intensive economy—the research examines how technological upgrading influences energy intensity and energy efficiency at both firm and regional levels. The study combines meta-analysis of existing empirical studies with firm-level panel data analysis and spatial econometric methods to assess both the direct and spillover effects of technology adoption. By integrating global evidence with micro- and spatial-level analysis for Vietnam, the project contributes to the literature on technology–energy linkages and provides policy-relevant insights for promoting sustainable technological development in developing economies.
