
Dr Van‑Phuc (Phil) Nguyen is a Lecturer in Applied Finance at Western Sydney University, Vietnam campus and holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Massey University’s School of Economics & Finance. He teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Viet Nam and has reviewed manuscripts for leading journals such as the International Review of Financial Analysis, International Review of Economics and Finance, and Finance Research Letters. His research spans corporate finance, financial law, risk management and environmental economics, with articles published in the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, International Review of Economics and Finance, Global Finance Journal, Emerging Markets Reviews and other international outlets. A 2022 paper in the Scottish Journal of Political Economy became one of the journal’s most‑cited works (2022–2023) and was later translated into French for Atlantico.
Beyond academia, Dr Nguyen joined the TaskForce on reciprocal tariff policy, high‑speed‑rail financing, and the development of an international financial and FinTech centre in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. He serves as Academic Editor for PLOS ONE (Q1) and the International Journal of Educational Management (ABDC‑B), is Associate Editor‑in‑Chief of Sustainable Analytics, and heads the Policy Impact Task‑force within the Finance & Banking Network’s “AI for Finance” platform. He also co‑chairs the “Advanced and Creative Trailblazers’ Talk Series,” which showcases breakthrough research published in top‑tier finance and economics journals, and was selected as a delegate to the Global Vietnamese Young Scholars Forum VI (2025).
